DIY Water Coloring Wigs or Bundles
Posted by Christina Morgan on
Hello Lavish Beauties! Hope all is staying safe and rocking Lavish Her Collection! This blog will touch on watercoloring human hair wigs and bundles. If you are a fan of having a different style or color more often than most, this method is great for you. You do not need to be a licensed professional to do this type of coloring. This is a DO-IT-YOURSELF at HOME service that will save you some money. I would recommend knowing the science of coloring. Please know color on top of color will only create a mess of darkness. Watercolor is a hair-dyeing method that involves using a mixture of hot water and watercolor dye. It will work best on lighter hair shades, such as your #613 blonde or #27. The lighter the original wig or bundles, the brighter you can transform your creation. The hair should be human hair. This method will only shade or coat the cortex of the hair strand. If you are using a semi-permanent brand, the color will fade over time as all semi/demi colors do.... If you want it to stick, use a permanent dye.
What you will need to create your work of art

**Please Please Please** if you will be doing this at home, have plastic to protect your table and floor, you will be working with color that can bleed into your furniture or carpet and we do not want that to happen. You will need your human hair wig or bundles, a watercolor hair-dye, there are plenty of brands available and you can get them at your local beauty store. You will also need a container of hot water. The container must be large enough for the hair to be placed in the water and moved around. If you do not want to get those pretty little fingers stained, have gloves and a whisk to move the wig around in the water. You will also use the whisk to stir the watercolor into the hot water.
LACE Protection for your Wig
If you are water coloring a wig with lace, you will need to protect the lace. Protecting the lace from being stained from the dye is your choice. If you are not using a lace tint, I recommend protecting the lace. You can spray Got2B glued blasting Freeze spray on your lace.
The Creation Process
Step 1
Fill container with hot water, you can boil the water or just use hot water. The hotter the water, the better. Add the hair-dye of your choice. Be sure the hair dye is completely mixed in with the water before adding the wig or bundles.
Step 2
Once you feel you've achieved the color you want, before adding the wig to the water, use a paper towel to dip in the watercolor. This will help you see the true color.
Step 3
Now it is time to add the hair. First be sure to comb out the hair. Once you achieve your tone of color, add the wig to the mixture and be sure all of the hair strands are submerged into the water. The color process should take about 3-5 minutes.
Step 4
Once you have reached your desired color, remove the wig, rinse with cold water, shampoo and condition. You do not need to shampoo, you can condition.
